i just bought one of these after being reccomended one from Salad last weekend, up intil now i have always used a DC4, which sharpens very fast to a razors edge. i took my northwest to the stone and sharpend it to zero ground, when the sypderco arrived today i gave it a microbevel with about 10 licks on each side of the edge on the fine side, the result was a truly terrifyingly sharp hair feathering edge, the ceramic on the spyderco is much finer than the DC4's ceramic, it doesnt work quite as fast, but the result is incredible, a very fine and highly polished microbevel.
the stone is a bit more expensive than a DC4 but as a pocket honing tool i find it much more effective in giving the edge that superb sharpness that lasts a little longer too.
