Spetnaz / VDV mess kit + flask

Hi,
I was having a look round for something new to cook with that would fit all three thing together in one:
1/ water bottle
2/ billycan
3/ cup

Well i got me one of these old Soviet mess kits that were issused to the Spetsnaz / Vdv troops . The kit is made from good quality ally and well made (no frilly bits like the AK).
The only thing i have added so far is a lid that i made up to fit the billycan and cup.

When the cup is fitted to the bottom of the can there is about 10mm inside to store tea or coffee.

The wire handle holds the cup to the can.

The lid that i made up fits the can and the cup.

Lol, did you get it second hand or issue? with my mess kit i had to scrape off an inch of axle grease then scrub daily for 5 days to ensure it was gone.
first meal still tasted like grease
crazy russians coat everything in axle grease to make sure it stays box fresh

Thanks for the comments.

This is as it came from Russian clean no grease , not like the other mess cans.

I made the lid from an old ally street lamp shade, formed round a wooden former. The dee ring is made from an old coat hanger.
