spalted mushroom!

Hello everyone,
today i wanted to spend a couple of hours doing a spot of carving.I wanted to try my hand at making somthing a bit diferent.So came up with this little chap.All comments welcome.

The cut out in the cap/dome or whatever the technical term is came about,because the wood was very soft and brittle.It just broke away when i was carving it.But i think it gives a more natural look.The wood that i used was a peice of birch.

You mean a Birch Phallales

I love the fact it's broken off, like you say it looks authentic... How often do you see a mushroom that hasn't been nibbled by something else before you get to it

The fact it's been spalted makes it even more fitting (Yes, I had to look spalted up )
