I have been pretty busy this winter with projects for reenactment stuff and just generally to stay sane. We have had 11-12 feet of snow this winter and the first 5 feet was fun, after that I just wanted it to end.
First, reproduction of an ancient shoe with an important sounding name, my girlfriend wears them for some of the events we do.
Next; a 14th-15th century pouch, I left the stitch visible on purpose as I wanted it to be a bit rustic and unrefined.
Next; another pouch from an earlier period, also used by my girlfriend for reenactor stuff.
Next; a roundel dagger. The roundel is two brass plates with a piece of black walnut in between. I was going to put a second roundel on top but like the rustic poor mans antler crown better. The blade was made by my friend Chris as part of some horse trading we did.
Next; an older lady I know wanted some viking style boots and gave me some leather to make them. Well she gave me yellow elk skin so now she looks like a viking duck. She has asymmetrical feet as well so it was an interesting job.
Next; some winter medieval wool clothing. If it is possible this stuff works better than modern stuff in some conditions.
Currently working of a 14th Century wool jacket and have discovered how much I hate 14th century buttons...
and in case you think I was exaggerating about the snow fall numbers, here are the city crews trying to find a place to put all the snow as it is removed from the streets.
Storm days are good for working on projects obviously...
Cheers all;
