This winter feels as if it has been more consistently cool (night frosts, rather than icy days, other than one short cold snap around New Year) overall and remained so for longer than many recent winters.
I’m a “Baby Boomer” and certainly remember looking forward to Christmas not just for the obvious but for the snow. I had relations in Yorkshire as that is where my father was born and can remember coming back down the A1 in the winter of 63 in my dad’s Morris Cowley. I have never seen a blizzard as bad as it was that day and I know my dad was concerned That we were not going to be able to get home. But as the years rolled on I noticed the snow was getting less and some years not at all.
I watched a program about climate change the other day Which said that if the Gulf Stream Was to leave our west coast (potential to happen due to CC) then the UK temp would decrease by 7-8 degrees at least.
It wasn’t on my radar but we are on the same latitude to parts of Canada and Russia and it is only the Gulf Stream that keeps us temperate.
