Most stuff you see is dried out and cracked.

But today I found a nice bag...has white residue on it, someone kept it supple, and the leather is 95% good.

It seems to be laced to some manky white painted leather as backing and edging. I am sore tempted to replace this, but have no suitable braiding to re braid, and it looks fiddly.

As a restored bag project it is a good find, and as a source for making a new bag its also a good deal for £4.

At any rate it needs more respectful treatment than it has now.

What would you use to clean and condition snakeskin?

It's a leather. As the animal isn't there to produce the natural oils, you need to do it. Any decent leather cleaner/conditioner should work. Wipe with the grain of the scales.
