I'm thinking of getting another good general purpose edc and locking folder. Does anyone have any experience with the Queen Mountain Man or Queen Hunter One?

I also want a legal edc carry from Queen, anybody have any suggestions, single blade is preferable.

Cheers.

I have a Canoe from Queen, its OK, but if you are looking at getting a thing of beauty for your EDC and are finicky about F&F then the Queen may not be the thing for you. I was at SHOT Show in February of this year and even the stuff that they had there had some issues. I know you are not paying the earth for them, but, if you are fussy then you may be dissapointed.

I have the Queen Mountain Man in burl maple. It had no quality issues -- locked tight, centered, smooth action. It even came somewhat sharp, which can be an issue sometimes with Queen. Frankly, it seems to have been better than the example of the Schatt and Morgan version - the company's higher-priced line - that was reviewed (Google "Mountain Man" + "Schatt"). The ergonomics are excellent, at least for my hand. The Schatt came in SS, the Queen in D2 tool steel.

(Ed: While you're at it, Google "Queen Collectors." The Queen Collectors Club has good prices and ships out quickly.)

Excellent, thanks for that. I liked the look of both of them, so I had to order them both in the end - just coudn't decide. Still havn't found which edc I want yet so I'm still open to suggestions, even outside of Queens, but it must have stag handles.

I will post pics and a small review of both when I get them. Hopefully there won't be any QC issues.

I have two Mt. Men. Had to send one back for fixin'. YMMV. When ya get a good one though, ya got something. I've sent other knives back to Queen as well. They could use a kick in the butt in the QC department.

It's jsut about my favorite folder, I really like the D2 ones!

A few of mine have a slight blade wiggle, but not enough to effect usage.

If it were me, I would go for the Copperhead.

Or the Utility Folder, although it's blade is a little over 3", is that OK where you are?

Chris, that is one unreal collection!!

Well, I just ordered another "Queen." :)

It's an Ontario/RAT collaboration.

I have this thing about awls for bushcraft. Very useful little tool to have handy on a knife or multitool.

This is one I got from Mooremaker. I call it the Dark Angel. ;) It was made by Camillus.

Thanks, it is a sickness. Here is another one that I didn't have when that groupshot was taken.

It's a Queen "Classics" Brown Jigged Bone. Only 14 were made, and I have been told they may be the rarest MM yet.

I agree, beyond the normal leather use, I find the awl on my Victorinox Farmer to be the best Firesteel striker I have, and it's amazing how well they will drill holes in wood for various reasons.

I just spent a few days playing with my SAk Farmer and agreee that the awl is pretty useful. It drills holes in bark in seconds!
I just wish the knife had a second blade rather than a a can opener!

I just got my RAT/Ontario/Queen Cattleman's folder and it's a dandy. Great fit and finish, smooth action, lots of walk and talk. The awl has a very solid lockup and should be quite useful. Really a fine slippie! The sheephorn scales add a lot of character.
