Sleeping bag "nesting" system

Need some help with sleeping bag systems...mainly becuase I have done the usual silly thing, seen something I liked and now can't find it again

What I was looking at was a nesting system of two synthetic bags. Not the ususual one bag in the other but properly zipped together so that they behaved as one bag. The price was around £250 for the full rig but IIRC it would go to about -30C. I seem to remember it was a Nanok set, could have been another make though

Can anyone help me out here with a reminder and a link if it rings any bells?

Don't Snugpak do a Special Forces range which is two bags zipped into one with a central quick release zip? Inner bag is summer weight (read as naff all insulation...) and the other is a supposed 3 season. Two combined is an optimistic 4 season. About the right price too...

They do...close but no cigar...looked at that in my extended trawl of the net and thought...nah...thats only about the same as my Nanok Endurance -10....

ok, it's the Carinthia sleeping bag system. It's in my USMC catalogue but not on the website. It is as you describe, supposedly good for -40 to -55 (doubtful me thinks, but might be??) and costs about £218

The only Nanok I can find that roughly fits your description is here, although I suspect it's not what you were after.
You can really go to town with these though, and fit all 3 bags inside one another for a mega-sweaty, triple-layered cocoon of nausea-inducing heat!
You could probably use them in the deep Arctic and still find yourself waking up half way through the night to let the zip down a bit!

Anyone tried a Nanok-25SF? I have a-10 anyway so I could build a sauna...

Not looked Red just I remembered comming across the system searching for steel water bottles a while back for someone wanting them to carry wine on camp outs. Also remember thats american so cold temp rating will be degrees f not c. Did a run through check out on the site with discount comes to £247 without shipping vat import dutes etc etc thats for sleeping bag and outer.

don't mean to lower the tone here, but nanoks do zip together, that would save on the bulk of 3 sleeping bags carried between you on joint trips...

I'm a very cold sleeper too, but i don't like carrying my big old Vango which is a truly hot bag yet weighs a ton, so I invested a princely sum on a Rab 400 Quantum Endurance http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/default.php?cPath=119_313_320 which is a down bag that is a genuine -5 comfort but packs up into a bag the size of a cotton wool roll. I tested it on Dartmoor at the weekend and it really was warm. First night was too hot as I was wearing leggings, wicking base layer and a couple of Merino wool tops. Next night I ditched the Merinos and was still very warm but tolerable to sleep. Each morning i awoke warm which is a first for me. If you really think the 400 is too cold then go for a 600. The Endurance models have the Pertex outer to keep water out, but the normal ones are considerably cheaper. £30 gets you a lightweight Sympatex bivvy bag from UCMC http://www.usmcpro.com/usmcgb/produ...14&PHPSESSID=e549a1b4cb2476647a60affb4e04b2aa which would save some dosh.

Like I said I'm a really cold sleeper and these bags solve that and are lightweight and compact. I would say the 400 plus the bivvy bag. I use mine in a hammock but i always carry a bivvy bag in case I can't put the hammock up and so I use it in the hammock as well just in case of water ingress. I really don't want a wet bag!
