Skeleton Knife

[dazcon]

This knife was made as part if a fishing rig. The idea was for a light but capable blade to accompany me on my angling exploits into the Scottish wilderness in search of pike. I honestly thought this knife would be easy and quick to make but I was very much mistaken. I spent an eternity chasing humps and hollows in the edge profile. Every day's a school day I guess!

How did you make the Damascus style patterning on the handle?

Thanks Guys! The pattern is a simple forced patina. Stripes of salad cream left on for an hour then washed off.

That's a really nice looking set up - nice, simple and useful. One genuine question - if the objective was light weight, then is there another option for the sheath? Its very elaborate (and stunning), but kind of gets away from the light weight aspect?

Beautiful knife, far to nice for pike fishing, I just use an old dexter Russel bait knife
