I've just acquired a Singer 99k in beautiful condition - for the princely sum of £0.00! :D Feeling very chuffed. :)

I'll get some pics up when possible but it's the bent plywood lid style. The key to open was missing but a bit of manipulation and off it popped. It still had thread on it. I know it hasn't been seen for at least 11 years, possibly longer.

There was a second with it in not so great condition. I haven't checked the serial number on it yet but will.

Wow, so just checked the serial number on the second.

The 99k was made in 1952.

The second I can't get a model number for but it was made in 1874. I find that quite amazing!

Well done that man! The 99k is a very capable machine and will carry on for a lot longer than you and I will :)

The 1874 number:

That one has the same hooped case as the 99k but opened straight away. It's easy to see why my expectations were low when I opened the 99k.

but what a contrast!

Thread still in place but gone brown and brittle where it's not been touched in at least 11 years, if not longer

Some feet to play with and investigate

Couldn't resist a quick check - it will sew. :)
