This is a puukko that I made up from a Kankaanpää blade, a piece of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) that I cut in the forest, a piece of elforyn and a piece of brass.

It sits next to the fireplace with a rough little cherry board and a stick of maple; I put a foot on the board, hold the maple almost vertical and take shavings off it with the puukko to use as kindling.

I really coveted a benchmade pukko, when I went to pull the trigger on one they were discontinued, with the amount of fakes about I couldn’t trust to buy secondhand!
I didn't realise there were fakes of the pukko made....? I bought two, as it is a brilliant blade and knew that I would need a replacement at some point, one was second hand....?

I read a comment on Youtube once from someone who knowingly bought a Chinese fake Fallkniven F1 from AliExpress to compare it to a real one. Turns out it was actually a really good knife. Not quite as good as the original Fallkniven but still virtually identical and had 95% of the performance for 20% of the price (or something like that anyway).

I wonder how good some of these fakes really are? Maybe they could they actually be a viable option for cheap semi-disposable knives instead of the usual Mora Companion?

TRC polheim… for EDC. Big enough to do most of my tasks and small enough to not be a hinderance. Tough enough for a beating and edge retention is fabulous. You don’t sharpen magnacut often, just a quick strop does the trick. It’s replaced many of my other more traditional and better looking knives. It’s very practical

This is my new every day working knife around house and farm. I made that recently with a Lauri PT blade, some reindeer antler and plumwood.

Do you mean that the second picture was literally your knife, or that it was just one like your knife? It looks like the knife in the second picture has a longer blade, which would be quite a…um…development, if it became the knife in the first picture.

It’s the same knife, I took the second picture on its first outing. In hindsight that first picture isn’t the best. It’s spent a lot of time wet, so corrosion over the years hasn’t been kind to it. I’ve probably not been so kind myself in my field sharpening and corrosion removal but this one has always been a hard use tool to me (protect the drawer queens!) so functionality over aesthetics.

I have a collection I’m very happy with. users, drawer queens, cheap, expensive. I work outdoors and this little Svord mini peasant is always in my pocket. It’s been absolutely hammered, used/abused daily, lost more than once, left out in the rain, leant to coworkers and generally not looked after at all. 2 mins on a strop and it’s good to go again… still performs faultlessly. Best £15 I ever spent!

The one that does the grunt work. The solid and reliable workhorse.

Let's see your old faithful.

(Pics please).

----‐----

This is my go-to knife for most jobs these days. It gets used for everything, general gardening, skinning/butchering, food prep, carving and anything else needs doing. Small, easy to sharpen, full tang, and the handle is solid and weather-proof.
