I don’t wear a watch, cannot remember the last time I did, but if you want one tested to destruction, let me have it for two weeks………..It’s why I don’t wear a watch!

Nice. I came close to buying a very similar Marathon a little while ago. I think you have helped make a difficult decision much easier

John..

I’ve always liked watches. Since I was about 11 years old, I have longed for a Rolex Explorer, like the one Edmund Hillary wore climbing Everest. For many years it was only available in 36mm, and I have fairly enormous wrists and hands - it just looked too dainty on me.

Then, fate. A couple of years ago Rolex announced they were making it in 40mm, and it was my 40th birthday coming up. I put my name down, and to my utter surprise I had a call some months later to say one was available, and would I like it.

I’ve not worn another watch since, and I’m not sure I will. I wear it work, to the woods, on holiday, swimming…it’s my perfect watch.

For crying out loud. On a thread about watches and @Nice65 has still managed to get me to buy another torch.
Haha, the No Time to Die Omega or the Captain Willard Seiko homage?

Grab a couple of Barton Elite straps and you've a different watch every day. Just a tip, either of these get a bit unwieldy with a NATO because the cases bulge out and the double strap beneath lifts them off the wrist. Single or two piece NATO work better. The yellow Bond looks great on the right NATO two piece.

EDIT: While the above still stands, I just read again and you wrote 'torch'. Why not push the boat out as it's coming on for the weekend and grab a Willard? Great watches.

Have you seen the Wurkkos TS28! 25% off if you buy more than one item with code HALLOW. Needless to say thers one waiting for me when I get home.

Marathon 41mm Steel Navigator (quartz)
Tritium illumination. Most recent.

The rest.
The Sinn in the foreground and the all stainless Seiko 5 Sports Land Shark at far right are the only automatics. The Sinn runs fast, but I like it a lot, the Seiko is insanely accurate, but it is a bit like carrying a small anchor on the wrist.

The Breitling is a 2002 and is nice, but the batteries don't last long and are crazy expensive to have replaced by Breitling, and if not sent back to them, cannot be guaranteed waterproof since Breitling don't offer other repairers seals. Mine is no longer certain to be waterproof, which limits my use of it somewhat.

The Casio is my DIY and workshop watch.

The Seiko Arnie, third from left, has just edged out the Landshark as my preferred travel watch since it is so easy to reset, they both have the requisite day, date and good lume, but both are a bit bulky.

Always liked the Arnie, very cool i think. Seiko lume is very impressive too isnt it. Just about the best out there.
That’s one of the things i enjoy about my Luminox is no matter when or the conditions i can read the time clearly .
