Personally, I would use them as a liner and use a tougher leather for the actual shoe. You could make rabbit socks perhaps! I seem to remember ages back seeing a thread with viking shoes or similar that were basically a cut out and laced up piece of leather, a par of bunny socks underneath would be quite warm but rabbit skins aren't very tough.

how would you makae the shape of the shoe in the first place?

I would look for templates on the internet of moccassins, plains indian style maybe? I have never made them myself so cannot give you advice on that I'm afraid. Eic Methven has made shoes in the past, he may be able to help you.

Rabbit skin shoes are really only for indoor wear.

My first courrans as a child were rabbit skin.

Look up courran or curran for patterns.
