Shipping hell!!!!!!! Help please

At the end of me tether here. I am trying to find a company to ship a bow for me. After my last Royal mail experience I am looking elsewhere.

So I have tried Myhermies, waste of time. After arguing that a bow is not a weapon, certainly not when it has no arrows they finally agree, then say as long as its under 4.5 feet!!! Useless

APC, yes we will send the bow for you but its at your own risk if we damage it. Unless I have an account with them which takes a few weeks to setup.

Anyone else out there have any ideas? Or I am back to Royal mail and hoping it arrives.

I've been using dpd for a lot of next day deliveries lately and can't fault the service, the tracking experience is unique in that it actually live tracks your package, i'm trying to find the size guidelines on their site now

DPD are generally good, UPS and FedEx are brilliant albeit very costly. ParcelForce or Parcelfarce as I call them are to be avoided. TNT aren't bad, but its a pain in the backside getting an account set up. NEVER EVER use Hermies or Citylink, just not worth the hassle.

I've had bows sent over to me from the UK in the past, albeit quite a while ago. As far as I remember it was either UPS or Fed Ex or DHL, I can never remember the difference between them.

As said, Hermes are the absolute worst shipping company I have ever come across. TNT aren't far behind them either.

I sent one to Ireland via Interparcel. Packaged it in a plastic plumbing pipe wrapped in brown paper, I think.

Thats half the issue I think, different answers each time you call. I get it with RM all the time.

Put some duct tape and no more nails in with it so the recipient can pop it back together on receipt.

Although I think they do require you to have an account(here) if you want them to pick it up at your place. Did you ask them about if you dropped it off at their place?

I think they all just play to the bigger numbers of easy packages these days. Most are very cheap providing you dont care if it gets there damaged or not, or at all.
Its not that I am being cheap as I dont mind paying for a good service that's insured. But £75 notes, I could put it in a bleedin cab of its own for that.

No option to drop it off unfortunately.

I am off to the fishing shop tomorrow to get a decent tube to fit the bow in tomorrow. This will cut down the size and allow me to send it via royal mail Still expensive but it aint £75 notes.

I guess its more me babying it too. I dont want something that has been months in the making, something that I could never replicate getting trashed en route and then arguing the toss for weeks to claw back compensation. Probably being paranoid but want to cover the bases now rather than explaining to muppets later.
