It seems I have reached the top of THAT waiting list after many years. However, i am in a dilemma regarding sheath choice. i have never used a neck sheath and quite fancy trying it. Just wondering if people have ways of adapting a neck sheath to be carried on a belt, if the urge takes you?!?! i realise a belt sheath could just be hung around the neck with a strap/cord, etc. i also realise this may be a dumb question to some?? Any pictures of what people have done? Finally - what is a "baldric" carry?

Be gentle with me :)

Cheers.

Baldric ( or handbag/ satchel) carry is where its slung under one arm

so instead of just hanging round the neck you put one arm thro the strap

This is my mora clipper in a kydex sheath which i have made into a neck carry. using the cobra knot means it does not dig into your neck.

I seem to remember an old thread on here, where people detailed the different methods of carrying their knives? Can't seem to find it in the search?

How long was your wait?

Yes, you can arrange the cords used for the baldric carry to use as a dangler type sheath, it isn't ideal though.

A Woodlore sheath is/was made for each individual Alan Wood knife, I had to send mine back to have a belt sheath made, I would suggest that you order both before your knife is delivered, you could also tap them for a bit of their expensive hootchie ridge cord which works well when putting your baldric setup together. :)

your house!
I made a plaited belt which I then fixed the neck\shoulder sheath to, it worked as both a normal belt and a baldric, the means of tying the sheath to the belt works fine for solid belts too, and with the sheath on the inside(between belt and trouser it makes for a very secure carry,

also seen here is the single rope baldric, note the direction of the rope around the sheath, it helps to keep it from twisting away from the body and making drawing the knife tricky, I liked this method of carry, comfy and discreet, BUT, one careless moment putting the knife away and I had ruined decent smock:eek::rolleyes:, though same can go for on your belt too! but i have yet to ruin a hem yet,
