I have had many knives that start out sharp but don't stay so so it is a bit of nuanced question, it is all about your ability to maintain a blade really and I confess that I am not very good at it.
I think that's an important point about sharpness....can it be maintained ? If not, then there are real issues. If that sharpness is really hard, and brittle, then that too is an issue.
Very good points.

To be honest I didn't really ask the question for any specific reason. I just thought it might stimulate an interesting discussion and introduce people to new product or manufactures which they may not have considered before.

Does your knife do what you ask of it?
That’s all that matters.
Realistically a cheap Mora Companion does everything I have ever asked of them and best of all they are cheap and replaceable so I have no hesitation to abuse them if the job requires. For example cutting through electric fence polyrope (which contains conductive steel threads) kills knives very quickly. Sure my Fallkniven F1 may be a better and stronger knife than a Mora but due to the cost of replacing it I would not want to use it for really hard work. Hence the F1 is really just a nice expensive toy used for woodwork and stuff like that but my Moras feel like real tools used for real jobs.
