I have seen these and they are a big lump of kit that you don't need to carry about with you.
Wet'n'dry on ply boards are good enough for a quick touch up and dirt cheap. If you want to.treat yourself get some DMT Diafolds.

Spotted these on ebay this week, 155mm long 50mm wide 25mm thick. 1200/3000 grit. approx 2/3rds of a full size stone.

There is also a listing in German for 1000/3000 grit which is a few pounds cheaper.

Either one of these combined with a leather strop would be good and at a fraction of the price.

I have just ordered the 1000/3000g one to try.
Personally I dont mind carrying a larger stone as I can use it for my axe as well. I could not get on with a DC4 I used to have as it was just too small.

As Bare Thrills said an anti slip matt on a suitable surface works well. Can be picked up in pound shops etc.

But basically choose what you think you will be happy with.

As Perrari says a 1000/3000 is ideal for bushcraft knives, a 6000 is overkill in the field. With a good edge before you go out you won't need to carry anything apart from a strop if using your knife loads. £60 is a lot for something heavy to carry. I strop before going out and my knives are fine. If carving for extended periods I'll bring a strop and compound, they're light and pack down to nothing.
