Found these cracking little hatchets in Homebase for a tenner.........well worth it i reckon.

I bought something that looks similar from a large builders tool shop just before xmas for £10 it's a lovely little axe and like you a quick edge fettle and it's a great tool. I was thinking of spending mega money on a certain popular brand. Having handled both I'm glad I got the cheaper one because as long as it does the job what more do you need? It's a realy solid little axe too.

Good call Robbi. How was the steel to file to a decent edge in terms of hardness?

it's not the hardest steel to be honest but it takes a pretty good edge and will be easy to touch up with a stone. I'm not going to use it to cut down hard wood trees so it should do what i need nicely
