As is fast becoming a tradition to me for Saturdays, i decided to get up at 0500 and go walkabout the farm to see what I can see...as well as cook up some breakfast, brew up, and zero the rifle.
Approaching an old poplar plantation I stumbled across this little fella at about 30yds....completely unaware I was there...
Carrying on deeper into the wood I stopped to try out the trangia triangle and get breakfast on...
Not a bad spot for breakfast...
Just sitting and listening for a while, you can tune in to so much around you...from the birds singing, to the rustling in the undergrowth, even the the trees creaking and groaning as the wind blows through them.
The rain came in so I threw up the tarp quickly...
There's something therapeutic about the sound of rain on a tarp...I just lay there taking it all in...
Happy as a pig in muck!
Wild edibles everywhere!
Even found a fresh deer scrape...
All in all it was a lovely few hours to be by myself and just "be"...
...and I can't wait to do it all over again next Saturday.
Cheers - Paul.
