One of the skills I've learnt so far is natural cordage...

It seems so satisfying just to sit there and twist some fibres into a string so much so if I pick up any odd bits of string I almost automatically start twisitng it into some cord. It's like a stress reliever :)

Anyone else have the same sort of feeling when you do something like that?

Me :D It can take me aaaages to weed the garden :o
It's astonishing what makes good cordage. Lobellia makes a really good rope and the dried out crocus leaves make a really good string, and very pretty coiled pots too :D

cheers,
M

"Rope is thicker - but string is quicker"
a poet of repute said that....you are not alone Mesquite...I used to twist rope as I walked on my fitness training walks and no fibre is safe from me!

"String, string is a wonderful thing,
Rope is thicker but string is quicker"

That's my sig line on another forum :)

As I said - a poet of note ...a flat note but still a note!
There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in...but the holes are small...that's why rain is thin!

" A baby sardine, saw her first submarine,
and was scared as she peeked through a porthole.
"Oh, come, come, come." said the sardine's Mum.
"It's only a tin full of people! "

Lime is beautiful to work with :) the inner bark of the small leaved lime makes the strongest natural rope in the UK :approve:

I have some lime bast that's been stripped out and prepped. However, it's in one of the sheds :o If I come across it anytime soon I'll send you some down for a play.

cheers,
M

I've used willow... it's lovely to make cord. I also enjoy the prep work in making it as well, like some campfire alchemy :D

If you could spare a bit of the lime I'd appreciate it Mary :)
