SAK question re. bottle opener

This has puzzled me for ages - sure there's a simple explanation though!

On the SAK the bottle opener has a "halfway stop" when opening - ie. it'll click into position at right angles to the handle.

You don't get the same on the can opener though.

Anyone know what this feature's intended for? Doesn't seem like it adds anything to the bottle opening capability?

Ah, yes that's probably it... wonder why it isn't also the case on the can opener.

That's what I always used it for.

Mine doesnt have that feature.The tang end is rounded so no half stop.

Probably because the can opener is a small screwdriver that would destroy a screw head if that much leverage were applied. Whereas the bottle opener is larger so could sustain the force.
