Happened to read your articule earlier in the week while BCUK was still down.

Well written and really looks like a great bit of kit. It has been added to the wish list. Keep up the good work JM.

Has anyone tried any of the other types of hand chainsaws (there are a few by different companies). It would be good to compare them and see how they fair.

Thanks guys,
In terms of efficiency, one has to pull a lot to make this thing work.
(the same reason chansaws hace teeth on the engine body, to be able to plant the teeth in the trunk and force the chain in.

Yep, I have used the standard military one and a number of cheap imitations.

Most of the cheap imitations have a tendency to get very hot and either they stick or snap, the issue one is very good for a while and then they have a tendency to clog up (best used attached to cord thrown over a branch so the weight of the branch doesn't constrict in on the cutting surfaces and cause it to stick).

The main thing to remeber with any of the wire saws is that you have to maintain a steady pace otherwise they will break.

The sabrecut on the other hand is of sturdy enough proportions not to have to worry too much about the frailty of them (just don't twist it).
