I see these are back up for sale on ebay, the quality looks good, did anyone on here get one ?

Happy new year to all,

Rob

Thanks Rich.........Yeah, they do look ok, and his feedback on these seems to be flawless although at least a year old; Hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Think i'd rather buy british at that price. Snugpack antarctic smock is only a couple of quid more

What you say is true, but the Romanian one is much better spec'd, i.e. double Ventile hood & shoulder yoke, more and bigger pockets etc.

aye true, its all personal preference obviously.

But I do prefer the pockets on the Antarctic. I'v had rear pockets before and never used em. Antarctic has a deeper zip for better venting
The double layer shoulder and hood is nice but not a deal breaker for me, i'd have a poncho or similar on before the double layer had any effect

Speaking of the hood
Is it just me, or do the seems on the hood/neck area look perfectly placed to channel water through and down your front?

*edit
Just having another look. Must say I do like the hood shape....looks spot on to me

Thanks for putting up the link Rich. His feed back is probably a year old because that's the last time he sold any. As I recall he did the same style in a variety of colours, & the design I think is loosely based on a WW2 era ,military smock.

I've read somewhere that the rear pockets were for the guy behind you to use, when the troops were travelling in single file. Cant say whether its true or not.

On the issue of price, I paid, £140 for the SASS ventile smock, with double layers on shoulders, poachers pocket, and hood. I then had a dressmaker add some L24 ventile, and a coyote ruff, which ended up costing another £60-£70.

Rear pockets also allow the wearer to go prone without lying on pockets stuffed with kit and another bonus is, if you are prone and need to keep a low profile it's easy to just reach round to a rear pocket rather than lift your body to hunt for kit in a front pocket.

Kit for assault teams has rear pockets/pouches exactly as you say, for the man stacked up behind to just take CS, Flash Bangs or spare mags etc: from the man in front.

I noticed on one of the Ebay close up photos the jacket label appears to be in English, 'Red Oak' manufacture..Ventile etc: or am I seeing things?...:)
