Kelly Kettle users have been asking for a more robust bag for the KK for a very long time. The polycotton bag that it comes in is OK for the occasional user but I wore mine out years ago.

The only reason that I won’t be buying one of these is that I made something remarkably similar for both mine ten years ago. I’ve not seen it to use or to handle but it looks good.

Edited to add:
Mine cost more than this just for materials!!!!

If anyone Is interested and with a bit of luck, I’ll be bringing a prototype of this KK made bag to the Summer Moot on the Saturday and Sunday.

I have no formal connection with the Kelly Kettle company other than that of an avid fan of the system and an intermittent correspondent with Patrick Kelly.

The bag looks useful and I’m looking forward to getting a feel as to what it might be like in final production and use.

This bag looks like it could be usefull for other things also apart from carrying a KK.
Like the title say: Kit/survival.

Look what I’ve got!

I received this from Patrick Kelly today.

This is a prototype. It’s the same as the production model except that the carrying strap is now wider and more comfortable and the draw string is now paracord.

I shall field test it on 16th when I head into the Berwyn hills to my favourite pitch.
I’ll also bring it to the Summer Moot.

This is a better overall description than mine.

Initial impression is very good. It’s a tough outer fabric which is exactly what’s needed. They suggest that you keep the original polycotton bag so this bag stays clean.
It has small pockets inside for tools etc.

The outer pocket closes with Velcro if its not very full and with a snap buckle anyway. It’s plenty big enough to hold a faux crusader cup. I shall fit two Xylis mugs and more in there.

I don’t use molle but if you want it you’ve got it.

It is probably useful for a LOT more than just Kelly Kettles.
The fabric is new so the top doesn’t close tight but then everything in there is water proof anyway.IMG_8085.jpeg

How easy shall it be to make a three point rain cover: semi-permanently attached to the carry buckle and bungy hooked to the molle and the pocket loop when deployed. It can travel in one of the inside pockets.

If KK can keep this below the current price (around €20 plus postage) I’ll get another one.

More when I get it muddy.

I got the ' survival ' bag as I was less than impressed with the standard draw string bag for hauling around the ultimate kit and all the extra bits I added to it. To find the survival bag just the ticket, where that big pocket on the front is cavernous and certainly fits all the extra bits I had rattling around in the draw string bag and with room to spare. Equally impressed with the internal pockets of which now store KK specific bits leaving the front pocket for all my extra bits. The name of my game is everything I need for a brew and a bite in the bag to just be able to pick up and go instead of wasting time looking for stuff to bring.

I’ve just transferred my big Kelly Kettle and accumulated kit to the new Survival bag. The polycotton original went long ago so I’m using a cotton shopping bag for the sooty bits.

Thanks, followed the link, saw their water filter which looks interesting. Anyone used one? It's lighter and can filter more litres than my Grayl, and dries out for storage.
