Just found out he died :(
Such a unique artist and I can't say i like everything he's done but the bits I do like have changed my life and the way I write and listen to music.
Any other Beefheart fans out there?
Favourite albums etc...

Mine is the spotlight kid and clear spot that you seem to get as a double album these days (they were originally seperate albums i beleive)

Love it or hate it, there is no doubt the man was a genius

I was amazed to hear on the radio this morning that he was far more financially successful in his later career as an artist (Don Van Vliet) than he ever was as a musician.
Here he is with his mate Zappa

He was a huge influence on me, only heard today as I was out all weekend. He was definately ahead of his time and will be missed! I'll bet there's no end of musicians that were influenced by his work...rock on Don.
