I started carving wood spirits a lil while ago, but after seeing some tiki work I thought I'd have a go. Not your traditional bushcracfty carving but they're dead simple and a fun project.

I also had a bash at bent bent wood rings.... Great fun.
Walnut inner with a olive wood outer band.

Those are great, and they're just as "bushcrafty" as anything else carved from wood; it's nice to see something a little different from time to time. :)

How did you bend the wood for the ring? I bet a little how-to would go down a storm here!

Thank you, a little change adds the spice to life.
The rings are a thin veneer, boiled/steamed, and glued around a dowel.
A how too is a great idea. I'd never thought of doing one before.... Should be a fun venture :)

Clean carvings = no tatty little frayed shreds here and there.
Popular here to add some sort of cork thing on the bottom as bottle stoppers.

And yes I think the wood rings are amazing too! Once you get the hang of them, you could probably start mixing them up and connecting them to make other bits of art and décor! Again, please keep uploading pictures and link us to a how-to if you can!

These are quite cute and kitschy enough that I'm sure they might become the new garden gnome if you make enough of them! I'd love to see a garden with these tiki guys surrounding a torch in the backyard! Please continue to update us with the others that you make to join the tiki family!
