Hey all,

Looking at getting one of these as they’re on sale at the moment.

Heard prior horror stories of them being a sweat box but the new ones are marketed as being a lot more breathable?

Just want something tough and waterproof as I work outside all the time.

If not, any recommendations?

Excellent bit of kit but I wouldn’t reccomend it for any kind of activity for the reason you mentioned. I took one to Canada last year and during the one rainstorm we had it held up well though we were just floating along on the river at that point.

Ideal for static / slow movement.

Anything more than that ( although I do bang out some heat ) and it can as you say get a bit moist.

I can absolutely vouch for them being tough and waterproof, and certainly a lot better than the earlier iteration. I have put mine through a tough life, and I haven’t killed it yet, and will replace it when it does eventually give up.

The only thing I dislike about mine is the shape of the hood. It finishes at the top of my head and the back is all stretched and pulling. Hard to describe but a bigger hood would suit me better personally.

I've had mine for a few years and the reason I bought it was that in terms of looks (coyote brown)and spec (Number of pockets etc) it was an attractive proposition. Waterproof & Breathable it said.
Well at least the 1st part was true. I was looking at reviews on a hunting website and it was accurate what most if them said, "Like wearing a bin liner". The worst part of the coat was the sleeves that had that shiny material that gives easy access for putting your arms in but has zero breathable quality. I got a seamstress to replace that with the same mesh material that was in the main coat.
Much improved but certainly not a coat to be exerting yourself in.
Ridgeline must have got fed up with the complaints and created the new version.
