I agree Shakespeare did a number on him but the whole no evidence that he had the Princes in the Tower killed is a bit shaky, he put them in there and then they disappeared, so even if he didn't actually get his hands mucky it's his fault. He was, however, loyal to his brother when he was king and a talented military leader, and only took the throne when asked to do so by Parliament

Henry tudor's claim to the throne was very shaky, he needed the two young princes out of the way more than richard did!
Richard used their illegitimacy as a reason to usurp the throne, but Tudor's claim was based on his illegitimate relationship on his mother's side; so he couldn't claim their illegitaimacy ruled them out as that would have invalidated his own claim as well...
...he was a tricksy swine, that Henry Tudor...
