I have a pair of meindl army goretex boots. The soles have finally warn through after 9 years of faithfull service.
The uppers are still in excellent condition and the boot lining is still in top condition. Im loath to chuck them away. Does anyone know if these are capable of being resoled? Is it worth it or would it be cheaper to buy a new pair of boots?

Its the outer edge of each heal thats gone, one boot has half of the dales lodged in it. You can hear the grit moving about as you step

How far are you from horbury nr Wakefield ? My mate is a cobbler and often achieves what is considered undoable due to skill needed or over pricing. He's always busy .....which is a good sign.

eggs shouldn't dance with stones.....

I got a reply from meindl tonight here it is.

"We organise resoles through us, carried out at Meindl's factory. You can return them to us through the shop from which they were bought, though if this is not possible you can send them to us direct.

They can only be resoled as long as the uppers are in a good condition, supple and free from cracks, particularly near the sole.

Sent direct to us, resole would be around £75.50 GBP, inclusive of return post to you, new footbeds & laces. Resole of some models may cost a little less, a few more technical boots or those with a very high rand slightly more. (If the laces and footbeds are still good it is a good idea to remove these before returning the boots so you can keep them as spares as Meindl would replace them and discard the old ones).

I have attached details of how to get the boots to us.

seems a bit steep to me. I payed £40 at the gillygate cobbler to re-sole my matterhorn boots, & altberg charge a similar price.

Mike, might be worth getting a quote from militarybootrepairs.co.uk as they specialise in all military boot repairs and I think they can do yours for around £50 which includes DPD courier service.
