Removing maggots from shrooms :)

Hi All

Does anyone have good advice on the best technique to remove those wriggly little critters from the shroom?

I am not too bothered if the odd one gets fried up, extra prtein, but SWMBO, our kids and our guests may get a little perturbed if they discover a little crawly thing!!

Considering you get stuff all nutrition out of shrooms, maybe the maggot would be the best part

Why on earth would you want to eat them?

Freeze em, then eat em. Or just cook em an eat em.

Give them a squirt from either a tap or hose or alternatively brush them from between the gills with a cut down artists paint brush (hog hair type).

In penny buns (ceps, porchini) you will just come across them as you either slice to prepare or whilst tucking in.

Then collect them together and make a nice tapas dish with some chilli, tomatoes, onions and garlic........

I am still trying to work out why anyone would want to eat maggot infested mushrooms. Must be a Welsh thing

Just give em a miss, get nothing from them anyway, apart from the rancid Shiites
