Remove Alder Resin / Sap From Tarp?

The thread title says it all really.

I've had a couple of tarps set under / in the shade of Alder for several days now and they're starting to get sticky in places. What's the best way to remove the stickiness before I pack 'em away?

Try powdered birch bark. It won’t remove the sap obviously, but it will stop it spreading and sticking your tarp up until you can get back to address it. Failing that. A bit of thin leaf stuck over it, if it’s just a couple of spots. Pine tar soap removes it well. Will need to re waterproof after though if it’s treated.

If it’s sugary sap, like from Lime trees, then the glorious British summer should be rinsing it off.

Place a bit of toilet or kitchen paper over the sap.

Use a hair dryer over the paper. The sap will melt and be absorbed by the paper. Remove paper when still warm.

If it's thicker resin, I freeze it and peel it off.

The recent rains seem to have washed a lot of the stickiness off. I shall try some of your proposed solutions on the remainder, when they finally come down.
