Reindeer scales - advice

Hi all

Just bought a Mark Hill blank.
I need to see it in hand, but I'm thinking of reindeer scales and fibre liners.
Anyone had experience of making reindeer scales? How big does the roll have to be, etc? And are there any difficulties, or experiences you can share?

You need to get some pretty wide stuff for scales. I tend to buy it from here... but there is a minimum order of 30 euro. Ask them for a wide piece if you go here. For that blade, ideally you want a 30mm wide roll. No difficulties in working it, the dust is a bit horrible so wear a face mask.

Used small bits as spacers and don't mind the sell too much. Looked on Brisa before but never ordered. Problem is there is so much other stuff to buy on ther too

Shame the blade was never handled before. Noticed a little surface rust on the pic, but all that will clean up fine. Last attempt I had at a full tang blank left a quite boxy handle and don't like the knife much. Will try to get a rounder smoother feel this time. Plus the blank looks a lot better than the one I got which was far too thick.
