I’m looking for a hipflask, as my old one is cheap and leaky.

Can anyone recommend a decent one? Mustn’t leak (unless open, in which case it must) and must be one I can store a single malt in for a day or two without issue.

also interested in this. Had 2 in the last decade, and neither lasted long. The solder/weld/joints failed relatively quickly and the best service they offered was a wet pocket and and a dry throat! Just to add, Needs to be 50cl or bigger.

This would absolutely be my choice

Guaranteed leak proof for life! I love the shot cups too. Sharing a dram whilst out is really special in my book. I recall pouring a brandy for strangers in the snow on the South Downs.

We weren't strangers for long!
The product specification includes:

Product dimensions
86.3D x 10.7W x 13.5H centimetres
Item Volume 1000 Millilitres

But then later:

POCKET FRIENDLY: Stanley designed this 8-ounce stainless steel flask for the on the go whiskey connoisseur; The contoured back provides a comfortable fit against your body and makes this hip flask easily fit into your pocket.

I don't trust it to be 86 centimetres tall, and 8floz is closer to 236 millilitres, a half of US pint.

Its 8 fluid ounces

Link to the Stanley site

It's much cheaper on Amazon's Black Friday sale though

I like drinking to be a social thing and this is small enough for a coat pocket but large enough to share with a few friends.

Ditch those shot cups and get the telescoping ones, for some real snazz:

I speak with love in my heart for hipflasks, the mixology in a perfect hip flask tipple and the company and friendships you get with one.

I have 3 Dalveys in our family as it stands but I've had 2 that have failed at the seams in the past 30 years One on the seam and one at the mouthpiece. If I was to be asked I don't think they are welded. I think it's a food safe Epoxy joint. I binned one and repaired the other with epoxy and it's sealed again.

One ruined sporran and zero interest from Dalvey customer service but I still love the shape and the options in sizes. I have the small, medium and the large with built in collapsible cup between wife, son and myself. All have their place for personal tastes and occasions The cup, either standalone or built in, is excellent but be gentle with it It's great to drink out of and share.

The Stanley hip flask is super robust and goes in ski jackets with no leaks and, combined with the Stanley 4 stirrup cups is perfect for the outdoors. The cup containor is ideal for water to mix with your malt whisky.

My bushcraft vote goes, at the moment, to this one:

I had the chance to handle one in Finland and it was robust and Scandinavian stylish but they didn't have the size I was after.

I have some of those but I always worried they would collapse & waste the precious spirit so I got solid ones!
They do when you decide you’re not sharing your Stanley with anyone and sit/fall on your cup.

I had a Dalvey I got from EBay ridiculously cheap and it was a nice thing, very classic English country sportsman type look.

Had an UKKO too, sold it on here. Lovely design but too small and uncomfortable to carry. Bought for aesthetics not practicality.

Also had a titanium one that was both expensive and horrible. Gritty threading is common with ti and it grated.

I’ve seen the Stanley. If I was doing it all again I’d go orange Stanley. Just does the job.

Is that number missing a zero?

Lol, 500ml / 50cl... I don't like them getting empty if i'm out overnight :D
Actually, I just read your post wrong and thought it said ml, not cl and was thinking that was just about a double shots worth.
Now I just read it right it makes rather more sense.
To be fair, thats if I'm camping with a mate and not setting off til the afternoon the next day (and not in Scotland either) so a slow start.

I don’t know, I quite like your idea of a 5 Litre hipflask.

Mebbe best to fill it with the ALDI single malts though eh cos they're about 18 quid a bottle.

As a side note, the Speyside and Islay versions of those (in the cardboard tubes) are well worth the money in my opinion. The Islay is compatable to Taliskar in my opinion as its not quite as peaty/medicinal tasting as Laphroig ((spelling?).
