Being the classic shape scaled up, the curve happens to fit against my middle perfectly. I intend to braze on some d-rings so it can be worn against base layer suspended by braces. Filled with hot water it will be ideal central heating for frosty mornings picking rose hips, sloes and haws.

You might like to take a look at hunt flasks, also called saddle flasks. Very often glass inside a leather pouch that attaches to D rings at the pommel of the saddle, traditionally part of fox hunting gear.

Another vote for the Stanley hip flask. I've had the little 150ml version for a few years, it's come on pretty much every camping trip and has been ideal.
