Picked this up off Ebay for £5 and use it as an EDC, but the plastic was cracked, and the corner fell off. Then I dropped it and did the same on the other end:rolleyes:
Excuse for a nice handle then, and I had some of this Birch burl left over from an old mature tree that fell in the local woods.

The new vice I bought the other day came in handy, and cut the scales off the burl with a silky, flattened by knife and sanded with a block. Finished with cold pressed linseed oil.

:)

Go for it, its easy. Just need to allow for the rivets. I carved little depressions on the inside of the scales. Guess liners could be used too, with little holes in the right places.
Might do another old penknife, and use burl with black leather liners.

Nice, looks so much better!

Got a Huntsman, that needs that sort of therapy.

One quick question, what do you use to stick it on?

Ditto - was it artaldite or suchlike? I am inspired by this cracking work to have a go myself as I have a bit of American Black Walnut hanging around the workshop.

Cheers for the comments folks.

I used epoxy resin, as it was close to hand.
