Razorstrop Fungus

This was briefly mentioned in an earlier thread. How exactly do you use a razorstrop fungus as a strop? Just cut a slice out of the middle then strop as usual? I.e. are there any particular 'layers' of the fungus or preparations that are necessary. Does the fungus have to be dryed out first?

Forgive me if there have been threads or tutorials prior.

Cutting the slice and drying it is pretty much it Harry
As for specific parts you cant really go wrong it's the white flesh you want. I found it reasonably difficult to cut it perfectly flat with a large kitchen knife so after the slice has been dried i have rubbed it flat on a piece of course sandpaper. i have also glued my strop to a board that i carved it has a handle at one end and a lip at the other so i can rest it on a surface.
