On that first picture the look on rays face is like Andy farted.

sorry Andy.

...you didnt did you?

He hates Brussel Sprouts? No wonder I like his approach to life so much - those things are EVIL. Haha.

As for tubby - yea, maybe a laugh, but I don't really see where it comes from.

Mesquite - can you elaborate at all? I can understand how he'd get bored with hearing that question, it's nice that he's so open to the younger ones.

Linz - myself and Sam both agree that the kid's question was by far the best. His answer was absolutely perfect too.
I had a whole host of questions I wanted answering, but before I'd settled on which one to ask the whole thing came to an end with the liverpool uni guy who'd been creeping across the stage since the end of the lecture.

I'd quite like to hear the answer to your unasked question too. Maybe next time?

Basically the life and death situation he was in was when a helecopter he was in crashed and one of the film crew badly injured his back. Ray was ok, as one can be having just experienced a helecopter crash, and he had to tend to the injured guy, extracting him whilst waiting for help to arrive.

He did quantify it by saying when he answered it that that sort of question doesn't interest him as it was something that just had to be done and he got on with it.

just had a little smile of the thought of me and john sitting on rays desk hope its a strong one...:lmao:
Andy weres the photo of you trying to lick rays head and the security helping you out?
As for the night it was great had a good day out with good friends. (sorry about the food):(

I always liked the cartoon with two worried looking tribesmen saying, "quick hide the tucker, here comes Ray Meares." I'm kinda built like him and it's always a comfort when out with some of my workmates ( outdoor staff) as they're built like rakes and kinda tease me, I just point out that without their kit they're dead bunnys and that I can stay out for a long time with naught but a blade.
Any fool can be uncomfortable and I'm built for comfort.

The guy injured was Alan Duxbury (I think that's his name) who he mentioned in the "In front of the lense" tour and said he is so steady that he doesn't need to use a tripod. As far as I am aware, he was in a bad way but was involved on Rays' Walkabout series so he must be back on top of his game. Good luck to him.

Tubby - aye - compared to when he were nowt but a lad and wrote for a couple of tha same mags that I did....and was known as Raymond!
Tubby - not compared to me!

Ray and Greg look to be the same sort of build, Ray always looks like a bear on TV, I seem to remember him being massive too. I bet he can't breathe fire though like our Greg! Nor does he wear ludicrous cammo pants, Ray I mean!

I bet he could breathe fire if he spent a few hours around the fire with me ......I'll trade him skills....do you rekon he will go for it ????

I am not having it that somebody has not sent him a pair of dpm ripstop things .......I'll klnock him a pair up and send them off for a chuckle.

Greg

Since you mentioned build Spamel...
After seeing him in person I can't say I agree with the "tubby" title many people seem to like using for him.

No slur here, but I reckon he's got a smaller build than Greg. Hard to tell with him sitting down though.

Anyway I prefer the term......rotund.......... over tubby ;)

Greg

I said that to him on skype when i saw the pic lol , knowing Andy he might well have farted on him .

Who was the guy Carl and myself met in the lobby , sorry terrible with names , nice to meet you though :)

Hi there It was me who you and Carl met in the lobby I was just on my way out to catch a taxi and thought I would say hi :)

Aye, you will as well! That is something I do not wish to see in a future program, Ray prancing about in one of your ripstop(!) DPM thongs!

The kid asked if he had any other interests when he was younger.

The answer was, yes, he had loads. He said it was important/good to have as many interests and activities as possible while you are young so you can find what you really enjoy and then do that.

I can't give a direct quote but it came across as if it were some sound advice for the kid more than an answer about himself.
I was very impressed by the answer myself. Very well worded in a way anyone could understand.
