Today 2 brave female police officers from Greater Manchester Police were ambushed, gunned down and killed whilst carrying out their daily routine by cowardly scumbag called Dale Creegan.

As someone who served for Greater Manchester Police in 2010-11 I want to show my respects in every way possible to those who have sadly lost their lives. It's all too easy to forget the daily dangers our emergency services face and today 2 female officers lost their lives in the line of duty.

R.I.P and god speed for you both.

Condolences to the families of the fallen officers.
A very dangerous job at times, it's always so tragic when police officers (and military ) lose their lives in the line of duty.
Were the officers armed? I ask because it's my understanding that some of your officers are not. If not, they certainly should be.

My thoughts are with their families... It's hard enough to do the job without having nutters who deliberately target them

I really doubt if them being armed would have made a difference.

They were suckered into what was supposedly a routine low risk call out that turned out to be an ambush, shot then hit by a hand grenade by all accounts :(

No they were not, other than their pepper spray and batons. The man in question was wanted in connection with 2 other murders where the victims were shot and grenades we also used.

Today the two female officers were called to what appeared to be a routine burglary and thus were not armed ( I have also been on many a similar call during my time with GMP ) and we're ambushed by this man who shot them as also used a grenade towards them.

They didn't even have a fighting chance to even react and it has infuriated me.

My condolences and prayers are with their families.

End of Watch for two brave officers.

And from what I've read, the coward quickly turned himself in rather than fight what would undoutedly have been an armed search for him.

The story's getting confusing now. Earlier I read that both officers were killed. Now they're saying one was killed and the other in critical condition. Anybody know which is the most recent and accurate?
