I've been looking somewhat lustfully at the Leatherman Signal recently, as it looks very cool. In fact, I think my biggest struggle would be working out which colour I like the most because they all look rather wonderful.

Anyone here own/owned one? What are your thoughts on it, would you recommend it to someone on the hunt for a nice multitool to add to the collection? Is it actually utterly pants?

Thanks in advance.

Edit to add: I already have a Leatherman, so know about the usefulness of them as multitools. It’s the Signal specifically I’m wanting user feedback on.

I don't have one but I am puzzled by the firesteel, for which another sharp edge/knife would be required, and the sharpener, presumably to re-establish an edge on that 'other knife'.

I'm sorry to say that the only thing I've found useful on a Leatherman has been the pliers.
Not actually looked at the leatherman site then?

I was boggled that the poster ( ed. + @Springchicken ) might try and use the ferro while it was stored in the knife and couldn’t understand why they’d choose to use the edge of a blade that was so soft that it would be damaged by ferrocerium.

My Opinel #12 Explore is fitted with a ferro. Using the back of the blade does no harm at all but what do I know?

Hence ??????
!!!!!! is an appropriate reply.

What colour are you going for?

……… of course you are!!!!!!

I like it so much that I'd gladly sell you mine!

Bought it coz I thought the clip would be useful when working at height but reality is it's too fiddly to unclip. Add to that the thick, semi serrated blade and the position of the screwdriver, Wave works better for me.

That said, it is a nice tool, worth trying if you see a use for it. I take it sometimes, just to see if it shines somewhere to redeem itself but in the 7 years I've had it, not a glimmer.

I have a well used one and love it. Probably carry it more than my Arc, Skeletool CX and Charge Plus tti (although I am out and about of the fells a lot). Swapped out the sharpener for an extra bit carrier which suits my needs better. Don't think.youll regret it if you buy one.

I did get the Signal in the end. I went for the bright orange one.

The sharpener thing fell off pretty much immediately, which isn't ideal, but I wouldn't have used it anyway. Otherwise it seems nice! Aggressive saw, knife is fine.

I also got a Skeletool RX (for a different set of jobs) and I really like that. It's a fun fidget toy.
