Casual wildlife encounters are an everyday thing here in Prehistoric Scotland, but I spend a few minutes in the car quietly watching these really random road users. Dont they move fast? Even with my inordinately tolerant camera this was a tricky shot.
I was walking along a lane a while ago and ahead of me was what looked like the usual and quite common pile of horse poop. As I drew closer I saw it was moving and disentangled itself to reveal a family of four weasels that had been playing rolly-polly tag games.
Fab pic!

Weasels are slightly smaller (though hard to tell by size when seen in isolation).
The giveaway is the tail - stoats have a black, bushy tip to their tail. Weasels have a shorter tail that is neither black nor bushy.
