pignut seeds

Does anyone know what pignut seeds look like and what is the best way to collect them ?
I think I have identified some pignuts and they are seeding, I have taken some pictures below.
I would like to collect some seeds as I want to grow some pignuts in the garden for harvesting to eat, but am not sure what the seeds look like. The seed heads look like fingers, are these pods that contain the seeds or are these the seeds themselves ?
Any help advice would be appreciated.

Oooh, couldn't help you there. Try maybe Hamlyns guide or something, or one of those cards with all the stages of a plant. Good idea, and good luck! Let me know if it's a positive i.d. as I would like to try the same!

just replant the nuts ( the bit you eat) they will grow and seed themselves in time, mine did,

Thanks Ajali, I will try to get positive ID, let you know if I do.
Thats a good idea spoony only problem I'll have to wait till next year for them to grow again so that I can locate them which is gonna put a two year timescale on the job -but hey ho rome wasn't built in a day.
