This is why you dont let climbing ropes cross each other....
If you embed sand in a bootlace (leather or synthetic) you can even use cord as a hacksaw on metal....

word of warning, every stroke weakens your paracord. We use a similar technique to open up bails of hay and eventually the saw piece will wear through.
