An ex Scout of mine, now an Explorer has been making this in my workshop over the last two years! Ash body, Walnut on the back. Pink Ivory controls.
Charlie has learnt a fair bit about Table saws, Routers, Spokeshaves, Chisels, Bandsaws, Lathes and Pillar drills in the process. I've been really impressed with his care, attention to detail and the way he has picked up new hand tool skills. Very well done to him.
I particularly like the socket. Usually a hole is cut and plastic moulding screwed in. The way it was done involved lots of measuring and head scratching. With some nerve racking flat bit drilling, delicate chisel cuts and a lot of sanding it turned out very well.
I think Charlie is going to give up and use a plastic knob on the (volume?) slider, two split attempts suggests wood is not going to work well. At some point some Pyrography is going to be added.
