the weekends meet at North Wood was almost ark building time! so we mostly just kept warm and dry around the fire and practiced a few skills

However it did give me time to put the finishing touches to this fella, Yew, standing 17” high and flat backed for wall hanging.

A selection of gauges along with power tools, what I was doing at the meet was sanding and staining. It's now well on the way to my customer in Inverness, at least she thinks he's lovely.

Head south west Scotland. Most Scots can't understand them when talking full speed! Record at 120fps and play back at 30fps and you might catch something.

Looks Awesome woodspirits. After I learn some of the more essential skills I must get some tips of you as I would like to start carving too.

Very cleanly done and not overly detailed. Well finished.

MikeeMiracle: You need some soft wood (Lime, maybe a conifer) and a carving-sharp knife.
Fresh green wood is much easier to carve than dry, seasoned wood.
Total included bevel angle no more than 15 degrees.
Do some carving, make some chips and shavings. That's the way to learn which questions to ask.

Wonderful little carving!
Lime ( or Linden) is a wonderful wood to carve. Used by European wood carvers since antiquity. Many church statues and ornaments are carved Linden.

Yew is far more beautiful though.
