Norfolk and Norwich Group

:D ah, yes!
I've been just on the edge of those woods environmental studies (or similar) when I did my outdoor sports college course at Kings Lynn. It's also not far from the lake we used (for sailing canoes Kayak etc.)at Leziate.

If we meet there I might be able to sneak away from a family visit :naughty: :27: (they live about 20 miles south west).

sounds like a meet to me!:)

well im up for a meet in june 11th to 24th i got a couple weeks off

Hi Rappleby

can u post a link to your instructions on making crusader lid plz - can't find it

cheers

can't remember where they are But here's how i do it:

1) get a sheet of aluminium (I've used a Mess tin and base of a saucepan sucessfully this way).

2) draw around the lip (cup upside down), use permanent marker as you can wipe it off with meths afterwards. make a second line half an inch to an inch wider than the last around the first line, so you should end up with two cup shapes 1 inside the other.

3) tin-snip aound the outside mark,

It's best to use a stainless steel version(rather than non-stick) for the next stage as a Non stick coating would probably get damaged, but aluminium being softer than stainless steel your cup should remain unharmed!

4) next gently tap the aluminium (on the cup in the lid position) especially round the edges, untill the lid shape is obvious then gradually tap away all around the edge until it is flat ontop and around the sides (this will take time).
file or grind down the edges untill it is straight all around it.

5) next drill a hole or two for the handle and add a few straining holes down one edge if you want, it's safer/easier to put a wooden block behind to drill into.

6) then paint it (optional).

7) and show us your handy work!;)

As I said before my metalworking skills are self taught so if i can do it anyone can!

Hi I'm a little concerned at present because of the flu thing,

I'm OK I think being in Norwich a literal Island in the countryside, nothing but flat countryside and the odd sheep, flu virus can't get me here i think...

OH BUGGER!

My sister in law visited on thursday , she is a Nurse here to see my wife for a shopping trip.
when she's about to leave at the end of the day about half an hour ago, in conversation she mentions that she's been looking after a patient in hospital that's recently come back from Mexico! SH1T!

the patient hasn't got the virus has no symptoms or complaints...yet

so now I'm getting paranoid...has my sister in law potentially spread the virus to Norwich, and all the shops she visited?
she's went home on a busy train so plenty of virus spreading potential there...
and do I go to work an spread it locally as well?

Ok so I'm not really that paranoid;)

( I have to say though, if i get flu in the next week or so it'll be spare underpants time! )

what do you guy's think?

otherwise do you want a meet in a couple of weeks time?
Cheers
Rich

I'm free from the 18th to the 22nd of May so I could fit in an overnighter or a weekday meet.

I'm still open to the odd meet whats going on swine flu isnt that dangerous

;) yeah, it seemed a bit risky for a while, but it's settled down a lot.

I'm getting really busy at work now, but I should be ok for a meet or two.

I'll report back after I've looked at the diary:)
