Or if you access the forum via tapatalk on your mobile it will let you upload images...I've been doing it this way for years now.

Welcome to the forum, fellow fly fisher here.

Hi Allan,

How long have you been a Full Member? Right now you are, so I would expect that you would be able to attach images directly. The real proof would be if you were not a Full Member and said you could still do it. Arguably though, that would be a loop hole that shouldn't exist.

Hi Chris,

Yeah been a full member for 3 or 4 years now.

I just more often than not access the forum via tapatalk, more for convenience than anything else, but yeah I can attach photos direct also if need be.

I was only suggesting another option for that new member as he seemed to be struggling to attach his photos, but I forgot that new members have to post a few comments first before being accessed the rest of the functions of the forum like adding photos etc.

Thanks for the heads up about the photos though, it's much appreciated

ATB,

Allan

Allan,
It sounds like you are saying your ability to add photos is because you use Tapatalk, whereas I would say it is because you are a full paid member and can add photos whether you use Tapatalk or not.

Can you point to a post that you made in the first 9 months of membership where you attached a picture directly? Even if you were able to then, that does not mean it still works now but it would be interesting nonetheless.

Post count does not unlock anything to do with adding photos. A person who has paid should be able to add photos from their very first post, although that post must be manually approved. A non-paying member could have 1000 posts and they would still need to link from a third party.

Chris,

You know more about how the forum works than I do, so I ain't gonna argue lol.

I just always assumed that adding photos directly through tapatalk was a benefit of tapatalk, and not because I was a full member...you learn something new every day!

And I generally just use tapatalk more as 95% of the time I access the forum it's on my phone, and I have grown used to the layout, menus etc, and I just find it easier to navigate the forum this way.

Thanks for the heads up anyway

ATB

Allan.

I can add pictures thru Tapatalk and I'm pretty sure I'm not a full member although I could be wrong.

Brilliant. That is the evidence needed.

Tapatalk is taking the place of the photo hosting site and providing a link to embed with IMG tags in the post. It isn't the same as the Full Member attaching function, but simpler than having to set up an account with a separate photo host.

There is absolutely no reason that you should pay for using the forums, you're not being forced to do so in any way, no one has pressured you to do so. We have many members here that don't subscribe and enjoy their time here.

It's interesting though that you want something for nothing and that because you're a minimalist bushcrafter you should be accommodated by others paying for your wants (in this case to post pictures) who do you think pays for the servers, software, maintenance, time etc etc that keeps a forum running?

We don't sell your info, we don't manipulate your experience and monetise you, we hardly advertise anything, we don't push membership etc. All so that people have a Bushcraft orientated forum to call home no matter what their financial situation.

Those that do help support the forums are appreciated and they generally do so because they value them.

If you're proud of using the bare minimum why are you upset at not being able to post images?
Money is made of advertising nonetheless

I don't fly fish personally I use prawns n worms but thanks for saying hi I'm just annoyed I have to pay to upload pics using another site to upload them is to much of a hassle for me btw I didn't catch any trout on Friday ,but I did catch a chub I realeased that fish cos they taste crap unless thrown in a hot curry

I should also point out that photo hosting sites like Flikr offer free hosting for quite a few pictures, which can then be linked to any forum you like (such as a fishing forum, if you become so interested).

Tight lines and happy trails.

Chris
I'm more into bushcraft than fishing forums ,they have worse politics than this one

Fifteen quid a year is a bargain really. Unlimited picture upload, ability to sell and access to classifieds and the security you get behind that, access to the full member forum, and generous discounts from many top retailers, and larger message cache. And it keeps this place running. Can’t grumble with that.

Now they are extortionate.

Btw describe ophiological that word is new to me.

Ophiology: The study of snakes. Ophiologist: A person that studies snakes. I specialise in vipers and elapids. Which are basically the dangerous ones. It’s great fun though. And pre lockdown, paid rather well :lmao:
