I do indeed santaman - actually I shot off some BP cartridges in a buddies hammerlock shotgun the other day - lovely :) But a flintlock is better still - mind you can you imagine how good my swing would need to be on a fast moving bird??

I've used flintlocks. I've even made the mistake of firing one at night, and I found out why the armies of the flintlock era seldom fought at night.
