Thank you. He's a big un alright for 8 weeks old. struggling to control his contant biting as its so strong it draws blood. Yelping, screaming dosnt seem to attract his attention. Anyone came across this issue? Cannot socialise him for another 3 weeks wondering if there is a way to get it under control within 3 weeks? Maybe rub something on my hands that wont cause harm but make my hands taste bad?

Hi Ski, lovely looking dog mate.
Normally dogs 'learn' bite limitation when with their siblings, all part of the rough and tumble games they play.
If, as you say, he's biting and drawing blood you have to get on top of this immediately, a very firm, loud NO would be the first ploy.
If that doesn't work I would use a rattle bottle, a small plastic fizz bottle with a few stones in the bottom. Keep it hidden, by your side, in a pocket whatever, he doesn't ever need to see it or hear it untill you use it. Again, a loud NO with a hard shake of the bottle at EXACTLY the same time.
Basically you are trying to distract him from the behaviour you don't want and introducing a command, timing is crucial when correcting behaviour with this and many other methods, a second too late and your'e wasting your time.

We had to euthanise our old rottie, almost 13 years old just before christmas. I've had rotties for over 20 years and couldn't live with out one. As we always rescue we have just rehomed this 9 month old fella..........

Good luck with the training mate, give us a shout if you want.

Thanks chris.

I grew up with rotties, and their beautiful colours made me pick a doberman, I guess I just wanted a change. Lovely looking rottie you have their, my pup will playing with my mums rottie as soon as the jabs kick in.

The bottle idea sounds good, at first me shouting no got his attention, but he seems to ignore this now. I think now he is settled down he goes into a playful frenzy. The bottle should get his attention I will try that right away.

Im using the clicker method for traning so I know what you mean about timing. Within two days He's learned his own name and to sit, not bad for 20 minutes training per day!

Many thanks for the tip, I will try this today and get back to you within a couple of days to report if there is progress.

That is seriously cute!

And that is excellent advice from Chris about getting the biting under control, it needs to be nipped in the bud ASAP
