Nettles going Poof!

Had a "wotsat?" moment this morning. Little smoky wisps coming off a nettle. Spent a quiet couple of minutes watching puffs of pollen. When the wind dropped, I could see that there was some slight explosive mechanism going on rather than a passive pollen caught by the wind thing. Didn't know that.

cool obsevation. I knew nettles were either male or female plants, the females seem to get stingier as they make seed. i do wonder if males and female have differnent properties as that what happens with genetically simmerlar species. So the have a mecanism for ejecting pollen, cool.

I've seen it too - quite hypnotic. (Or may be I'm going nuts as well!)
