After receiving my WS micarta yesturday (what a thing), i was quite shocked about the size of it (its big). Being quite short, my hands are small, but the knife still seems perfect apart from...how are you supposed to wear one of these round your neck?

Baldric style would seem better. So, does anyone own a neck sheath that they would want to sell for about £25? I dont want to buy on for £45 to find that dont use it!
Obviously to fit a woodlore WS Micarta.

Cheers,

Jake

True, but i don trust myself. That is a good idea though. Perhaps i'll give it some thought.

Cheers,

Jake

You will probably find they will be glad to do it.... its a change from the re-heeling womens shoes and cutting keys which takes up most of their time. Print off some tutorial posts about sheath making from british-blades and ask if they can do that..... you may find you get their interest sparked.... its not something they get asked everyday for.

Cheers Ed,

Could you put a link up for those tutorials, i'll have a look for them, but when it comes to computers, i mostly fail!

Cheers,

I bought a Laplander 115 that had a normal looped top sheath, wasnt for me so I converted it to a neck sheath simply by cutting the loop off of the top, then stitching the the old belt loop tightly around a fire steel, then create a slot in the newly stitch piece to accomodate the cord lanyard, then I split the stitching in the sheath and removed a piece of the leather spacer found sandwiched down the stitched edge just big enough to slide the fire steel holder in to, restitched through the lot usinf the original holes and bingo you have a neck sheath.
I hope that the explaination is clear enough but have a look at the picture, if you want to know more then let me know. :-D

I've got a WS Micarta, and I wear mine baldrick style. Didn't change the sheath though.

I just got a load of para cord, plaited it up and put a loop at each end. Threaded this through the belt loop, then got a couple of those little carabiners from an outdoor shop and used one of those to join the looped ends.

This arrangement makes it easy to use the sheath either on the belt or round the neck or baldrick as the situation dictates.

Witht the carabiners you can adjust the size of the cord by just attaching a bit higher up if you need to. Got the other carabiner attached to my fire stick, and can attach that to the loop too.

Saves the expense of buying another sheath.

I think i am going to get shing from British Blades to make me a kydex one.
But i may as well try that tutorial.
